I'm Gonna Miss This

I have been wanting to post this song for a while now. I saw Trace Adkins sing it on the last episode of "The Celebrity Apprentice". One big reason that I didn't post it immediately is because, truthfully, I don't like country music. Yes, I know I live in Mississippi. Each stage of this song rang true for me. I couldn't wait to grow up and move out. I couldn't wait to start my family. And now there are some days that I wish my kids were a little older. I admit it. I look back at pictures of Kara and Will as babies and I think "where has the time gone"? Today I will enjoy my new crew of 3 and thank the Lord for all that he has blessed me with.

She was starin out the window of their SUV
Complainin sayin I can't wait to turn 18
She said I'll make my own money
And I'll make my own rules
Momma put the car in park out there in front of the school
And she kissed her head, and said
'I was just like you'
You're gonna' miss this
You're gonna' want this back
You're gonna' wish these days
Hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna' miss this
Before she knows it she's a brand new bride
In her one bedroom apartment
And her daddy stops by
He tells her it's a nice place
She says, 'It'll do for now'
Starts talkin' about babies, and buyin a house
Daddy shakes his head
And says baby just slow down
Cuz' you're gonna' miss this
You're gonna' want this back
You're gonna' wish these days
Hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna' miss this
Five years later there's a plumber
Workin' on the water heater
Dog's barkin', phone's ringin'
One kid's cryin' one kid's screamin'
And she keeps apologizin'
He says they don't bother me
I've got two babies of my own
One's thirty- six, one's twenty- three
Huh, it's hard to believe
But you're gonna' miss this
You're gonna' want this back
You're gonna' wish these days
Hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna' miss this
You're gonna' miss this
Yeaahhhh... you're gonna' miss this...

Hey there-

My name is Kim Cook. My husband and I started the process of adopting a little girl from Thailand a year ago and I was so encouraged by your blogspot. We live in Memphis and it looks like you all are somewhere in this area as well. Would you be willing to contact me via e-mail so that I might be able to ask you all some questions. My e-mail address is kim@xcommunity.org. Oh yeah...we are adopting through Holt as well.

Hey girl this is Alicia and I really needed to hear that song it's awesome. I'm gonna try to find it for my myspace page. It made me teary eyed. As my kids are outgrowing me by the day. I know these tough years w/ teens...I'm truly gonna miss it one day. I also miss those years when I could just hold them...enjoy those years they don't come back! Love ya!
